so when i go to do the material test i go to preview and the redline is way out of the parameter width wise how do i fix cause it keeps on making my laser lose its tightness on track plz help i have the parameter set to 400mm by 400mm and when i go to do a regular engrave it works fine its only when i go to do the material test . i have a blue laser machine yr5 /working size 400mm by 400mm 60 w
I'm a complete newbie at this, your video has helped loads. But, I am having a homing issue. Whenever I press home, the laser goes to the left corner, which is fine, but then it makes a horrible and loud grinding sound like the laser is trying to go beyond where it can actually go. Any idea how to fix this so I can home correctly? I'm terrified I'm gonna break this machine.
On a co2 with a ruida controller do you have to move the laser in LightBurn or can you use the ruida control panel?
In the preview > the jog speed slider bar > handle for the slider preview. Why is mine only the height of the slider bar? I didn't realize it is supposed to be a large rectangle going beyond up & down above and below the slider so it is easy to grab. Mine is very small and difficult to grab.
What operating system are you using? The style of the control may depend on that.
Great video! By chance, do you know if there's a setting to prevent the elapsed time from disappearing a minute or more before the job actually completes? I would like to have a closer value so I can set an alarm on my smartphone when I'm running 10+ batches.
Excellent tips as always my friends.
Where do i go get the window drive at
I don’t know what “the window drive” means. Can you explain?
@lightburnsoftware7189 I try to download the program for the window 64g and it say I have to us Microsoft verified app
@lightburnsoftware7189 I download the program but it say that it not microsoft verified
@@patrickmcdonald3137 That sounds like you are running Windows in “S-mode”, meaning you cannot install any software that isn’t on the Microsoft Store. You will need to disable that to run LightBurn.
How about this method.. Starting higher, start the burn and slowly lower the lens and when you FIRST notice an etched mark, note that distance. Then, lower the lens until the mark just disappears then slowly raise the lens back up until the mark just reappears. Take that measurement and the first measurement then split the difference as a "center distance" where the beam is most focused. This way you are finding the burn threshold as the lens is lowered(noting distance) and finding the burn threshold as the lens is raised(noting distance), then the average-middle-distance should be accurate?? Your thoughts on this "averaging" method please.... Thanks for your reply.... Hank
In my opinion, the ultimate tool
I believe there is a typo in the video title. It's /cor/file, not "corefile" :)
That's really useful and well explained. Thank you.
Gimme that file 😂
Are there plans to add another mode to the 3D mode, engraving/cleaning/polishing?
Is there something wrong with the cleaning pass option that’s already there?
Really useful! 👏👏👏
Good tip. Thanks!
Omg..so easy..I was going nuts to try!
You finally did a quick tip that I already know how to use. Fun. Lol
Hi, can i cut with this tarot cards if i have collage as an image
Hi, my old computer is broken and i'm unable to get into it. I hoped that Lightburn saved your settings and designs. Are my files gone forever : (
I followed along with you and with a few bumps along the way finally got to where you were measuring out the size of your wood.......couldn't go any further. I just don't know what I was doing wrong. I would put in my measurements at the top, lock the lock, assign that line to T2 then the arrow/heart would turn blue. I am at my wits end. I have a Sculpfun S30. Trying to use Lightburn. :(
gracias muy util
Is there a way to reverse the settings, for example, have the fastest speed on the bottom and the slowest speed on the top?
No, why would that be necessary?
@@lightburnsoftware7189 because if I'm trying to find settings for a material I want to go from less power to more power and my laser cuts/engraves from bottom to top. Once I start burning through something I just want to stop it.
@@lightburnsoftware7189 because I'd like to have my chart burn from least power to more power. Then I can stop it if I've gotten what I need.
how to I export the test to sd card?
Click the “Save GCode” button.
I love how light burn is always updating this software making it better and better
I'm watching this before destroying anything
Always a good idea. Having a solid understanding of how these modes work will be very helpful moving forward.
I did not know that... "immediately enabled it"
you guys are legends creating this software and providing a full feature free trial and the low price of the software.
I absolutely love all of these tips. Keep it coming
Thanks for the feedback! We have many more planned :)
Does it work with camera settings? Like, I have a fiber laser with a it's own camera, and a co2 laser with its own camera If I load the preferences, does it import the calibration setting?
One of the biggest feature. Thanks.
My new Falcon 2 refuses to connect to this software. Suggestions?
Where you able to have it detected during setup with Find My Laser? If not, its possible that a driver is needed. Reach out to our support team - support@lightburnsoftware.com
@@lightburnsoftware7189 No. During that phase of the setup, it didn't see it. I'll follow up.
reset to default is good, but it would be better reset to some previous setup. We create some toolbar organization we like, later on play a bit, screw up the distribution and we want to go back to our preference, not the default
If you haven't already please add this to our feature request platform: lightburn.fider.io/
Doesn't it rust?
Bleach would, but this is detergent.
@@miaandersen8731 and the water?
It’s only wet for a short time and it says to dry it. It’s not things being submerged that causes rust, it’s humidity. When water and air mix. Leaving gunk on your laser would likely be worse, as dust attracts humidity from the air and that will be slightly acidic (this is how old paper turns yellow on the edges of books).
Ok I'm new to this. 1- mine is backwards/inverted. How do I flip it around? 2- I line my object up under the frame but then it marks to the left of where it said it was. How do I fix that? (Using a Monport GP50 fiber laser)
Backwards/inverted is usually an issue with the origin setting. Regarding the object being under frame and not the engrave it sounds like the red dot needs to be aligned. We have a video on this here: ua-cam.com/video/2Ec4-F49aV0/v-deo.htmlsi=Vc1DYPHOiSOenbs6 If you still have issues after reach out to our support - support@lightburnsoftware.com
Great tip, thanks ! I do it with BBQ cleaner (potassium hydroxyde) - works fine as well, but harmful to skin and eyes ;)
I have a problem with importing a image. For some reason, the file created makes the laser pick up cutting speed and slow down during the cut. I thought something was wrong with my settings, so I checked. They were fine. So I ran another file, and it worked fine. I tried tracing the image again, and it still did the same thing.Am I not configuring it enough to run properly? It seems to insert a ghost in the machine.
Please email support@lightburnsoftware.com and send the LightBurn project file you’re working with along with information about what laser you have. You can’t post images or files here in UA-cam comments, which makes it extremely hard for us to help you here.
Apparently, there is so something going on when using a certain image when copied from online. I can copy, paste, and trace in XTool Creative Space just fine and burn and cut with no problem. Lightburn may be picking up some type of code within the image. And somehow is being read as a command by Lightburn. Other people with the same problem solved it by exporting their project as an svg file and then running on XCS. I'm not going to repeat the problem for a ticket as the problem is very violent at times and slams the diode around to the edges off the laser bed at high speeds. So, use caution.
Can you please help me with something? I have a photo with words and images but I only need the words (with a particular font style). How do I select only the letters and nothing else? Thanks
It sounds like you are wanting to use the image trace tool. This tool lets you select certain portions of the image or you can trace it all and then just delete the portions you don't want. Here is a link to our documentation on it docs.lightburnsoftware.com/Tools/TracingImages.html
Want to know best laser source and other parts for 3d laser engraving.
I have a problem my tts-55 laser pro runs but does not engrave, any help ?
Has it connected successfully and can run frame commands? And just to confirm there is no power output at all? If you are still facing issues, contact our support team - support@lightburnsoftware.com
@@lightburnsoftware7189 i fix it thanks
For beginners you go way to fast.
Its a balancing act between to fast and to slow. The video can be slowed down in the player or watched a few times to catch anything that was missed.
Yes, I figured that out thank you
I followed the instructions to find focus length as well as the calibration steps for a new lens. Is there away to adjust the focus beams? When I had my 290 lens, all the beams met in the middle when focused. Now with the new lens all the beams are spread apart. Is this able to be adjusted or will I need to manually find focus with a ruler each time? Thanks!
When you find the perfect lens focus, note that distance. Then under the galvo head there should be screws holding each of the two red pointing lasers. Loosen these screws and manually move that red laser pointer to dead center of the main - center laser beam. Repeat for the second red pointer and then ALL three dots will be centered. Gently tighten each of the two red pointers snug, not "head bolt" tight, but, secure firmly. See my suggested lens focus method above as I think it will give you a perfect focus by the "burn average" method.... Hank
Very helpful option, thanks for 😊
Thank you so much for this video. I got a new laptop and installed Lightburn, and suddenly, my laser would not even cut 2mm basswood. Came across this video, and discovered that it was the S Value causing the issue. A link to this video should come standard with every laser engraver.
Glad to hear that this did the trick, its a fairly common issue.
Nice. I constantly learn new things in lightburn.
This was so useful. Thank you so much. I was convinced my laser had to be replaced as suddenly it was not cutting what was easy before. The S value was the culprit which I am not sure why suddenly wasn't matching the machine's value. How do I ensure all the correct settings are set? This sort of thing had happened before with certain parameters were not correct. How do you ensure everything is optimally set up to get the best from your machine?
Glad to hear you where able to figure out what the issue was. Unless there was a firmware update that could have changed the value on the machine there shouldn't be anything that would switch it without manually editing it in LightBurn. Some manufacturers have a reset option in the firmware but if things are working as expected now I really wouldnt recommend poking around the firmware more than necessary.
hmmm, I would have to wonder, take an image and place it horizontally, greyscale dither it. Now take that same image and rotate it 90 degrees, move the once burned image in machine and rotate it 90 degrees also, match them up in alignment, would burning it that way create a better image due to the power dithered cross hatching? /EDIT oh, the software can do that, sort of with the scan angles... interesting. Will have to try both and see the difference, if any.
Where can I find the initialization file for the laser? I can’t find an SD card in my box that supposedly has the file on it.
We’d need to know what kind of “the laser” it is, but typically you’d need to contact the maker of the machine for this.
Hint, don’t use this. Do the Galvo lens correction. Even that is a bigger PITA then it should be.
I believe you are referring to the 9 point correction that is built in to LightBurn. This did not exist when this video was created. The plan is to do an updated video using that method.
Hi sir, why my machine shaking when I am engraving it is giving a horribly result.
Without being able to see an image of your output or settings it will be impossible for me to help. Please email support@lightburnsoftware.com so we can properly assist you.
Brilliant! I've been putting off taking all my laser settings from my workshop PC and putting on my house PC (A lot warmer in the winter) for ages. Now done in seconds! Thank you 👍👍
Awesome, happy to hear it!
